The Redding Pickleball Group (RPG) is a dynamic group of active individuals that come together to enjoy the game of Pickleball and all its benefits.
Pickleball in Redding with a couple small groups gathering on the tennis courts in South Park. The Redding Parks and Recreation Dept. has been involved from the very beginning.
They taped and then painted a couple courts at South Park and then in 2013 they gave us permission to start playing at Enterprise Park roller hockey rink.
We painted 2 courts, then 2 more and finally 2 more to make 6. The group was growing fast. Then through generous grants, the courts got a new paint job which made it a multi-use facility with pickleball being the main user. Redding Pickleball continued to grow with some folks playing 6 days a week.
It became evident that permanent net pickleball courts were needed. Plans begun and fundraising started. Yet just to make things interesting we had a few outside influences to deal with. The Carr Fire, Snow Megaton and just to add another wrinkle Covid-19 came along.
Through all that folks were focused and even more convinced of the power of pickleball not just for exercise and social activity but also as an amazing diversion from the crazy events taking place.
Thank You City of Redding, Redding Parks and Recreation Department and generous community sponsors for our 6 beautiful new courts.
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.”
